Fallout 4 Sims Settlement 2 Mod Getting Expansion Sized Update
Although the latest installment had an incredibly difficult launch which left the community disappointed, the Fallout games are still worthy of a lot of praise. With Fallout 4 being released around seven years ago now, it's considered the last good game in the franchise. A lot of its longevity can be owed to the modding community, with some Fallout 4 mods going so far as to change the game entirely. There is also one other mod which has caught the attention of the community, and recent developments show that this fan-made expansion is, itself, getting its own expansion.
Thanks to a new report, word is spreading that the second chapter of the Fallout 4 mod Sim Settlements 2 is being worked on by the aptly named Sim Settlements Team. This latest addition to the already huge mod will add an extra quest into the game which tells the story of the mercenary Gunners faction. The developer has unveiled a trailer called "Gunner Outbreak" which shows a dramatic overview of the story involving the Gunners taking over settlements and assuming command. It seems as though players will be tasked with putting together a rebellious group of freedom fighters to overthrow the hostile usurpers.
The trailer also shows off some very impressive voice acting and teases the arrival of some notable story characters from the base game. Sims Settlements 2 is already considered one of the best settlement mods for Fallout 4, and this latest chapter seems it will only make it even greater. All the additional content and the new stoy has the potential to really kick the studio's expansion into another level.
As if that wasn't enough, "Gunner Outbreak," which is currently the unofficial name of chapter two, will also have additional Fallout 4 side quests, which will come with patch 2.0.0 that ships with the DLC expansion. This update will also feature a Disease mechanic, a system that adjusts settlement populations based on each one's success, a gameplay mechanic that allows players to establish their own factions, and just so much more.
Currently, there is no release date for this next chapter, but the developer says it's aiming for Fall 2021, and that the studio reckons it will be close to completion within the next three months. Fallout 4 is a game that is simply screaming out for modding, and the fact that Team Sim Settlement's contribution is, itself, being expanded further, just goes to show the level of dedication that the community has, as well as the work they're willing to put in for some amazing output.
Fallout 4 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Chapter two of Sim Settlements 2 is currently in development, with the expansion expected to be released later on this year.
