Fan Cosplays as Invincible at Awesome Con, Meets Omni-Man and Thor
Fans of Invincible joined a Thor cosplayer and recreated the famous "Think Mark!" meme that has been circulating around the internet based on the famous graphic animated television series for Amazon's platform. The Invincible-themed photo was taken at AwesomeCon, which is a comic-con convention dedicated to pop culture held right in Washington, D.C. This con is usually held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Invincible is an animated show based on a graphic novel series of the same name. It follows the story of a young teen named Mark, who discovers he has superpowers just like his father. The world they live in is filled with super-powered beings (both good and evil) who have acclimated their society to adapt to these super-powered humans. Mark has to balance his social life, figure out his role in the super-powered world, and figure out a murder mystery that has even the smartest detectives baffled.
Invincible was already green-lit for a second and third season, which fans have been eagerly anticipating. The meme in question references a conversation between Omni-Man and Invincible during a pivotal scene in the show. Not only did the cosplaying fan (toekneechin777) recreate this iconic scene, but in another crossover of worlds event, he met Thor from The Avengers. He ran into a fan that was cosplaying as the "lazy" Thor from Avengers: Endgame, which has the God of Thunder in pajamas, shades, dirty/unkempt hair, beer cans, and a gut to match.
The cosplayers did a good job emulating the characters from their respective series and it's cool for the fans to see heroes from different properties interact with each other in a way that would otherwise be virtually impossible. Currently, Marvel is working on multiple projects, including the Fantastic Four reboot, while Invincible is at work too on the upcoming seasons.
Marvel Studios is currently rolling out the What If? series, which shows alternate versions of some of the popular storylines told in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first week asked, "What if Peggy Carter got the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers?" The following week asked, "What if T'Challa became Star-Lord instead of Peter Quill?" The most recent episode asked, "What if the Avengers were killed before they even began?" There are several more episodes that have yet to release, including one where Erik Killmonger and Tony Stark work together.
With all of this content coming out, fans have plenty to look forward to after the "superhero drought" that they went through during the initial lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans have multiple series and universes to dive into in the coming months and years. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be coming out next week and it has already received plenty of feedback.
Invincible season 1 is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
