Incredible Rick and Morty Art Imagines Realistic Rick Played By Peter Capaldi
Rick and Morty only have two episodes left before season 5 reaches its end. By going on a brief hiatus from airing, Rick and Morty intentionally broke up the release date of the remaining two episodes to hold fans off for an epic finale, which seems undoubtedly worth the wait. The finale will be one hour long, marking the longest Rick and Morty episode to ever exist. This month-long break for fans seems to have left them in the dark as to when Rick and Morty will make their return.
Now that the final release date and revival of Rick and Morty season 5's finale have been confirmed, fans can rest a bit more easily. However, fans had to find creative ways to pass the time in that dragged-out, seemingly relentless month without knowing how the season ends for the characters. One of the many ways fans have tapped into their love for Rick and Morty during the wait was by fantasizing about different versions and adaptations of the beloved characters. Artists who are huge fans of the show took to bringing these images to life.
Fans have always been curious as to what Rick and Morty would look like if the series ever went to live-action. Who would play and match the complexity of a character like Rick? A few actors' names have been thrown around in conversation of who would be able to most replicate everyone’s favorite villain. Actor Clint Eastwood’s name has been dropped as a possibility. However, Reddit user Infinite-Gain shared artwork that makes a strong case for Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi to play the role of Rick Sanchez.
The artist joins the many fans who seem to have come to a consensus that Capaldi would do the role justice. The artwork re-imagines Capaldi as Rick and the results are disturbingly realistic. Capaldi is known for his outstanding roles as Doctor Who and, most recently, the Thinker in The Suicide Squad. There aren't many features of Rick that the artist had to implement for Capaldi to strike a resemblance. The features are surprisingly already present in Capaldi, down to the spikey white-grey hair and an unbothered expression on his face.
Many fans have even gone to the extent of simply calling the image Capaldi, no transformation necessary. Who knows whether Rick and Morty’s future will ever include live-action film, but as of now Capaldi has been reincarnated as Rick just through his normal appearance.
This image begs the question as to what exactly Morty would look like and which actor would fill his shoes best? Fans won’t have to leave much up to their imagination now that the intermission of Rick and Morty season 5 is coming to a close.
The one-hour-long Rick and Morty finale will premiere on Adult Swim on September, 5th, 2021.
