Ocarina of Time Fan Shows Off Incredible Poe Sculpture
More than 20 years after its original release, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remains alive in the public consciousness and continues to earn attention from new and old fans alike. One Ocarina of Time fan recently created an intricate sculpture of a Poe, one of the game's iconic enemies, complete with a surrounding graveyard environment.
Although Poes appear in many The Legend of Zelda games, they are particularly well-known for their presence in Ocarina of Time, where they can be captured after defeat and sold for ten Rupees. In this game, the color of their eyes can be used to tell if they are agitated, with green meaning they are calm, yellow meaning they may attack, and red meaning they are mid-attack already. This isn't the first time Ocarina of Time fans have created visual tributes to the game's characters, but it may be one of the most detailed.
Redditor TriSarahTops57 sculpted an intricate rendition of a Poe floating above the grass in what appears to be a cemetery, with a small gravestone on either side of it and bare tree branches framing its figure. In Ocarina of Time, Poes may become agitated and attack Link if their graves are disturbed or if players get too close to an idle lantern, and this Poe's yellow eyes indicate that it is becoming upset. However, its lantern is still by its side rather than being used to attack, so whoever disturbed it may still be able to retreat from this sculpture unharmed.
The sculpture is beautifully painted, with the Poe's black face shrouded in a cloak of blue and grey and the lantern made of black metal and dull yellow glass. Dark grey tombstones and bright green grass lend a sense of life and texture to the piece, while small plants and little mushrooms add small details. Ocarina of Time's vibrant world has been captured in sculpture before, but the focus on one specific monster and its personalized environment makes this piece memorable.
As of this writing, this sculpture has been warmly received by fans, with several expressing interest in purchasing it. Many users have complimented TriSarahTops57 on their skill and the cuteness of the Poe. While the creator has stated that they do not yet have an Etsy storefront, they do post on their Instagram when they are putting a given statue up for sale. Reportedly, this statue will be up for sale soon, which may be of interest to fans who collect Legend of Zelda figures.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available on Nintendo 64, 3DS, and Wii U.
