Xbox Announces Gamescom 2021 Showcase | Game Rant

With E3 coming and going almost two months ago now, gaming news has steadily slowed down since June's blowout with Xbox and Nintendo's showcases taking center stage at the digital showcase. That is likely to change soon however, as another of the year's biggest showcases, Gamescom, is set to take place later this month. In anticipation of the event, Xbox has announced that it will be hosting another showcase during the event, which will include updates on its previously announced titles and some third-party titles.

During E3 2021, Xbox held a digital showcase that featured the announcements of titles such as Redfall and Contraband, with updates on previously announced titles such as Halo Infinite and Starfield. It was also the first showcase that featured Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda titles showcased back to back since Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in March 2021. The showcase was followed up later the same week by another showcase hosted by Kinda Funny Xcast and GamerTag Radio host Parris Lily, which featured interviews and additional reveals from studios such as 343 Industries, Rare, and Double Fine Productions.

It seems that the upcoming Gamescom showcase will take a similar format to the Xbox Games Showcase Extended stream, as the show will once again be hosted by Parris Lily, who will be joined this time by Microsoft producer Kate Yeager. Microsoft claims that the showcase will feature in-depth updates on previously announced first-party Xbox titles, as well as some titles from third-party partners. The showcase will feature games coming to Xbox Game Pass this holiday and updates on games coming to the service even sooner. The showcase will air on August 24th at 10am PT/6pm BST across multiple services such as YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Gaming, and Twitter.

Given that the announcement of this event comes soon after the technical preview event for Halo Infinite and just ahead of the Fall release window, it's safe to assume that this event will likely give fans the announcement of the game's long anticipated release date. This comes after the game was delayed indefinitely after the Xbox Series X/S's launch window due to the negative reaction to the July 2020 gameplay reveal. There will also likely be more gameplay for titles like Forza Horizon 5, Age of Empires 4, and other titles planned for release on Xbox Game Pass.

This presentation also comes only days after the end of Bethesda's upcoming digital QuakeCon 2021 event, which will likely feature some announcements from some of the Microsoft publisher's studios. Some of these announcements could potentially bleed into the company's Gamescom 2021 stream. Microsoft has also confirmed its participation in Geoff Keighley's Gamescom Opening Night Live, which will air the next day. Only time will tell, but the rest of 2021's release schedule is quickly materializing.
