Apex Legends Players Are Calling For Kings Canyon Changes
Respawn released Apex Legends back in February of 2019 along with the first map for the free-to-play battle royale, Kings Canyon. While World’s Edge and Olympus eventually arrived, Kings Canyon has remained in the map rotation ever since its release though it appears that many fans are starting to get frustrated with it.
Recently, a Reddit user known as Sick_Breh started a new thread on the Apex Legends subReddit talking about Kings Canyon. “Please never ever put this map in Ranked rotation again,” they said. Others were quick to chime in on the topic as well. With over 3,200 upvotes on Reddit, many players in the community agreed that the map needed to be changed.
Several players were quick to highlight the problems with Kings Canyon. According to user JL_snow, “this map you can’t do much [of] anything to stop or stall a third party.” While the gamer acknowledged that third parties were a common problem on any map in a battle royale, they claimed that the issue was much worse on Kings Canyon. Some of the reasons that third parties were more of a problem included: small buildings with sightlines to shoot, grenades which can be thrown at those hiding inside, as well as too many open areas with no cover nearby.
In addition to these complaints, others believed that the map needed more popular POIs scattered across the map. According to some gamers, the loot needed spreading out more evenly between locations. As the map stands now, many claimed that only a few viable locations were available to land for good loot, making Kings Canyon seem small.
Respawn has already made many changes to Kings Canyon since the release of Apex Legends. Back in Season 5, the developer dropped Skull Town into the ocean. In addition, the northern part of the map was altered after a large ship crashed in the arena. With these past changes in mind, there is a chance that the developer could implement more changes to the map in the future to attempt to minimize third parties.
Besides wanting changes to Kings Canyon, many players are upset about the most recent event taking place in Apex Legends. Known as the Monsters Within Event, this Halloween-themed update was supposed to bring new cosmetics and content to the battle royale. Unfortunately, many fans believe the developers at Respawn left out most of the spooky stuff that made past Halloween events exciting.
With numerous players complaining about a lack of support for the game, it will be interesting to see how the developers react following these criticisms from the community. With the release of Season 11 of Apex Legends only a couple of weeks away now, it seems that the next chance for a substantial update for Kings Canyon will come then.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
