Metroid Dread: Stuck Between Cataris and Dairon Solution

While most of the exploration in Metroid Dread is fairly intuitive, there are a couple of places where players may get stuck. One such place falls at the end of Cataris and the beginning of Dairon, and indeed some fans may fear that they have soft-locked their games. However, there is a simple way to advance from this position, and this guide details exactly how Metroid Dread players should proceed.

Metroid Dread: Stuck at the Beginning of Dairon

For those fans that have reached the shuttle that connects Cataris to Dairon, it is requisite that they now advance through Dairon. To do this, players must use Metroid Dread’s Spider Magnet ability to climb the neon blue wall and ceiling at the beginning of Dairon. Upon reaching the end of the blue, fans should proceed forward until they reach the dead end, turn around, and fire at the floor that is directly in front of them.

Indeed, there are two blocks in this position that can be destroyed with Samus’s Beam, and players that pass through the newly-formed hole in the floor should have no trouble progressing in Dairon. Ultimately, this progression will lead players to a Beam in Metroid Dread that will allow them to remove a certain blockage at the end of Cataris and access new areas. To make sure that fans can reach that point, the following video showcases how to get through the beginning of Dairon.

For those players that would like more specifics about the skill that they will obtain while in Dairon, it is the Wide Beam. This gives Samus the ability to fire three beams simultaneously, and it can be used to move Wide Beam Boxes and destroy Wide Beam Covers. Metroid fans that felt as though they were stuck between Cataris and Dairon should be quite familiar with the first of these two objects, as a Wide Beam Box is what blocks the path back through Cataris.

Notably, this is not the last Beam that players will earn as they explore Planet ZDR in Metroid Dread. In fact, fans may have even received some clues about what those additional Beams will do from environmental elements that they have not been able to successfully interact with. Players should thus not be too concerned if they cannot access every area in the game on first pass, as they simply may not have the right tool at their disposal.

Metroid Dread is out now on Nintendo Switch.
