While it may not have been the very first FPS game to see the light of day, Doom is certainly the one that popularized the genre, with the nearly three-decade-old classic still having an impact to this day. The fact that id Software is about to start on its next project, with many speculating it to be a new entry in the series, shows that people still want more Doom.
