Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Fan Mods GTA's CJ Into the Game

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is just the latest game based on the long-running shonen anime and it has proven to be a big hit with fans for many reasons, including making Raditz a challenging opponent for players. Though this is the first non-fighting game based on the anime and it just released today, it already has a large and dedicated fan base.

One of the first things many PC fans do to show their love for a game is to mod it. Though it hasn't even been 24 hours since Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's release, one of the most ridiculous mods has already been made for it: a model port that replaces Goku with CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

This mod was uploaded onto Kakarot Mods today by BeatzYT3, a modder who is mostly known for their work on some ambitious Sonic mods like Sonic P-06, a fan remake that tries to fix the awful 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog game. It seems they've taken a break from that difficult task to experiment with one of  Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's opening sequences with a funny model replacement that should make the battle with Raditz a lot more interesting. Beatz admits that this mod is just a test model port and it has some issues with disappearing when the camera gets too close. No doubt this issue will be fixed in a future update, but if this is just a test model, then what other Goku replacers does Beatz have planned?

It could be another Grand Theft Auto character, like Trevor from GTA V. It could be someone awesome, like Iron Man or Jotaro Kujo. Or it could be a ridiculous meme like Sans or Shaggy. There are countless hilarious possibilities, but given the modder's previous work, a Sonic model port is the most likely possibility.

Fans aren't the only ones modifying Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot right out of the gate. Bandai Namco has released a massive, 11gb day one update comprised of two separate patches, 1.01 and 1.02.  This update adds sub stories, fast travel locations, and improves loading times in the game. More specifically, patch 1.01 adds "system features related to bonuses," while 1.02 improves loading times and adds sub stories and fast travel to Korin Tower Summit and Capsule Corporation from the world map, as well as some other adjustments. A lot of fans are most excited for the addition of sub stories, as they could improve what is already considered a great story, even if it is missing a major moment from the anime.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
