Deathloop: Fristad Rock Guide

It would be difficult to say that any area was home to more Colt deaths than Fristad Rock. There are only two situations in Deathloop where Colt dies with no do-overs even if he has the slab power to come back and both of them are here. One mistake doesn't just blow up the timeline, it can blow up all of Blackreef.

By utilizing some of the level's terrain and secrets, Colt can eliminate or reduce many of the risks in this area. Some of these discoveries are required if Colt is to break the loop. Fristad Rock is an important and deadly place, here's how to make sure Colt unearths what he needs and gets out of it in one piece.

Any Time Of Day

The delivery booth for Fristrad Rock is about as easy to access as it gets. From Colt's entrance, check the "Expand Your Mind" snack shack to the right and it's next to it. The delivery booth itself is visible from the entrance, so it is difficult to miss. Use it to stash away a weapon good for taking out Julianna just in case she tries to ruin Colt's fun.

There is a convenient ridge in between the entrance to Frank's club and the entrance to Fia's bunker, but it comes with a serious catch. There are laser and proximity mines all over the place, so be careful or be dead. The enemies to the right will notice if they get taken out with violent means; it's not the worst idea, but it is something to prepare for.

There is an underground bar in between these areas too which is less mined up, though it does have more guards. Aside from the nice bar decorations, there is an ammo dispenser here along with some soda for Colt's health.

Morning

Frank is hiding up in his club, surrounded by turrets, guards, and guards that have yet to spawn when he sees Colt. To make matters worse, the only way to get to Frank is to have a Classpass equipped, which disables all of Colt's slabs, including the one that gives him extra lives.

Don't give up hope, though, there is an ideal way to kill Frank, both now and later.

Grab a Classpass (for now) and then head toward Frank, hacking any turrets and sniping any guards along the way. Before engaging Frank, go upstairs and remove Colt's Classpass with the dispenser next to his bed. Now Colt has all his lives and slabs, making killing Frank much easier.

The simplest way to kill Frank is to hack both his turrets, set them up by his bed aiming at the stairs, let Frank see Colt, then hide behind the bed. Frank and his minions are no match for the turrets. The more direct approach is to hack the antenna on the left side of Frank's box, opening the door and allowing Colt to blast away.

Eventually, it's best to kill Frank by rigging his fireworks in the morning at Karl's Bay. This is the only way that works that breaks the loop. But early on, players have to have a more hands-on approach.

Noon

There are better ways to kill Fia (see the next section), but the first time around, she's only vulnerable in her nuclear bunker at noon. The front door is the obvious way but be warned. If Fia or any of her eternalists in the bunker suspect foul play, Fia will activate a bomb that destroys all of Blackreef.

She's labeled with a waypoint, so particularly stealthy players can take her out from the shadows. Those who don't yet have the Aether slab yet will want to seriously consider disabling the bomb first.

The schematics are in the room just to the right of the front entrance. These will not change, so count on them to work without checking going forward.

In this same room, there is a battery and a charger. Learn how to charge up the battery, then bring it to the opposite room, which has an elite trinket in there for Colt to collect. Plug the battery in, press the button, and the door opens.

The bomb itself is directly underneath Fia's room, so if, for whatever reason, Colt's cover is blown, run directly to the center of the action and hope for some steady handy. Once these are cut properly, Colt may deal with Fia via loud or quiet methods. Beware her Havoc slab; it makes her hit like a truck.

Afternoon

After completing the "Afternoon Delight" visionary lead, both Charlie and Fia will be meeting up in an underground bunker beneath Fia's nuclear bunker during the afternoon. The entrance is outside, locked by a data cassette puzzle.

Players will be given the location of this bunker and the answer during the course of the lead, but for those who forget, the waypoint can be toggled on the map through the discovery menu. The door is on the shoreline and the answers will appear in the correct order above the puzzle.

Fia and Charlie will be in a heated argument, but they are still aware of their surroundings. Both can be killed in a straight-up fight if that's how the player wants to knock it out.

Ideally, Colt should sneak his way to the top. Then pull the lever inside of the control room. All inhabitants will drown or be electrocuted including Colt, but his slab will take him to safety after his death. This is not only the best way to kill Fia, but it is also the best way to kill Charlie and both visionaries must die here during this time for Colt to break the loop.

It is possible for a quick player to escape the oncoming flood, back the way Colt came in, in case death charges are getting low.

Evening

There isn't anything to do in Fristad Rock in the evening. That's not an opinion, the game won't let Colt go to Fristad Rock at night because there is nothing for him to do. Either head somewhere else or start over again!

Deathloop was released on September 14, 2021, and is available on PC and PlayStation 5.
