It might not be out yet, but upcoming medieval RPG Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord looks set to provide that experience, save for all the dragons and zombies. Set 200 years before the first game, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord plonks you in the boots of an ordinary medieval man and asks you to unify the lands of Calradia by any means necessary.
