Even Elon Musk is Obsessed with The Witcher Song | Game Rant
With a baby on the way, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and musician Grimes will probably be spending a lot of their free time together in the near future. If a Tweet put out by Musk early this morning is any indication, he'll be using some of that time to catch up on media like Netflix's The Witcher.
His 2:00 a.m. social media post simply says "Toss a coin to ur Witcher" surrounded by a couple of music note emojis. It's a very blatant nod to the second episode of The Witcher show where Joey Batey's Jaskier the bard performs a song about Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia (whom he has been accompanying).
The song is a hell of an earworm and has been a meme-able sensation all across the Internet since the streaming show was released on December 20, 2019 — with one notable cover by Brazilian singer Dan Vasc turning it into a heavy metal jam.
Musk's post received a gif response from the official Twitter account for The Witcher games almost immediately, which makes sense given titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Netflix show are based on the same source material novels from the 90s. A few hours later, when the sun had actually risen, it was also picked up by one of the show's writers Jenny Klein.
Now of course, Elon Musk is not new to the popular culture scene with his viewing of Netflix's The Witcher. He has been very active on Twitter discussing video games of all kind in the past, to the point that companies like Gearbox Software have included easter eggs about the tech entrepreneur in games like Borderlands 3.
Recently he was also more than willing to poke fun at his own notoriety online by guest starring in the latest season of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty.
With The Witcher season 2 confirmed for a 2021 release, and plot points already being teased by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, perhaps there's a chance that Musk could make a cameo and toss his own coin to Henry Cavill. That would certainly be a crossover the Internet could have a field day with if the stars aligned.
