Final Fantasy 7 Remake PS4 Exclusivity Extended | Game Rant
Those without a PlayStation 4 looking to play the Final Fantasy 7 Remake are in for a disappointing surprise, as the console exclusivity window for the game has shifted further out. It's a disappointing move for Final Fantasy 7 fans on platforms other than the PS4, as it's that much longer before they get to revisit the adventures of Cloud and friends.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake exclusivity window was originally set to expire on March 3, 2021, but has been extended to April 10, 2021, pushing it back a little more than a month on other platforms. This extension is due to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake delay, which pushed the game's PS4 release back to April 10, 2020. By moving the console exclusivity window, the game maintains its one-year exclusivity agreement with PlayStation.
The delay isn't that severe, falling in line with the initial one-year exclusivity agreement, but still a soft blow to those that are waiting to get their hands on the game. As far as the best-rated Final Fantasy games go, the seventh numbered entry in the franchise is considered to be one of the best by many fans, and there are plenty that want to relive it with upgraded graphics and new content.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailers have been steadily trickling out, giving fans some content to watch as they wait for the game's final release. It's one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020, so the build-up to launch has been an exciting time for gamers. For those with a PlayStation 4, the game is now just a few months away. With Cyberpunk 2077's recent delay, fans of the game should have plenty of time to explore everything it has to offer.
Luckily for those waiting, Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be playable on PS5, which likely means there will be an Xbox Series X version when the exclusivity agreement lifts next year. It's difficult to say, but it seems like it would be a wise move, considering the graphical fidelity of the game and the increased power new consoles will inevitably bring. Of course, that remains unconfirmed, so fans will just have to settle with the PS4 version for the next year or so.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release on April 10, 2020, for the PS4.
