Pokemon GO Pokemon Day Event Brings Back Armored Mewtwo and More

Pokemon GO players are in for a treat because Niantic just released a new blog post announcing a bunch of new events that will be coming to the game. The new events are in celebration of Pokemon Day and the release of Netflix-exclusive Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution movie. These new events in Pokemon GO won’t only bring Armored Mewtwo back, but more Clone Pokemon and Pokemon with party hats will also be available in the game. Both Eevee and Pikachu wearing a party hat will be catchable in the wild, while the first starter trio, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, wearing party hats will have a chance of hatching from the 7KM eggs.

The Armored Mewtwo event will run from February 25th to March 2nd, and the Legendary Pokemon will be available in a 5-star raid with the special charged attack Psystrike. However, On Sunday, March 1st, trainers will also be able to participate in a special Raid Day featuring both Gengar and Nidorino. Both these Pokemon are the first Pokemon players lay their eyes on when starting Pokemon Red or Blue, so this Pokemon Day event celebrates their first appearance in the very first games.

Nidorino and Gengar will be wearing party hats in raids, and Gengar will be available in 4-star raids while Nidorino will appear in 2-star raids. Both Pokemon also have a chance of appearing in their shiny form, so the luckiest trainers out there will be able to grab a shiny variant of these Pokemon.

In order to get players to go out and participate in these raids, up to five Raid Passes will be provided for free on Raid Day. All players have to do is spin the Photo Discs at Gyms to get a Free Raid Pass. It’s important to note that trainers can only hold one Raid Pass at a time, so it’s better to use them all because these won’t be available after the event ends. On top of all that, during the Mewtwo event, trainers will be able to trade up to two special Pokemon per day for a limited time.

Those who’ve missed their chance to catch the Legendary Armored Mewtwo will get another shot at capturing this powerful Pokemon in Pokemon GO along with some other great bonuses.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
