Where to Get Roses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Game Rant

There are many different varieties of flowers available for players to tend and grow in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In fact, players keeping a healthy flower population can help them get closer to unlocking K.K. Slider. One flower that players want from previous Animal Crossing titles on their island is the rose, due to their general real life popularity and their in-game hybrid potential.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are eight different flower types that naturally bloom on players' islands from the start: cosmos, hyacinths, lilies, mums, pansies, roses, tulips, and windflowers. For some players they might be lucky to get roses naturally on their island, but for others, they need to work a little harder.

Players who already have roses can water them to stimulate the flowers spreading and then dig them up to give them to other players if they so desire. Like ACNH's native fruit, native flowers can also be lovely gifts for friends.

Every day, Timmy and Tommy will sell six varieties of flowers from the cabinet on the back wall, with random kinds and colors of flowers. The exception to this are flower hybrids which must be bred by players themselves. These flower seeds can be bought in single packs or in bulks of five to an an infinite number of times per day with the only limit being player inventory space.

Another method of finding roses is through the exploration of the deserted islands that can be found by using Nook Miles Tickets at the island airport. As these islands are random with random fruits and random flowers, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have a chance to find an island that grows roses.

The risky part of this method, however, is that because the islands are random, it is entirely possible for players to never even find an island that grows roses. In fact, the most common type of random island players will go to will have that player's native fruit and native flower growing on it. Unlike the player dubbed "Spider Island", it's impossible for players to force roses to spawn.

The main appeal of roses is the various beautiful hybrids they can create. While roses naturally can come in red, white, and yellow, the hybrids come in black, orange, pink, purple, blue, and gold. The following are the combinations that create these hybrids.

  • Red X Red - Black Roses
  • Red X Yellow - Orange Roses
  • Red X White - Pink Roses
  • White X White - Purple Roses
  • Purple X Orange - Hybrid Red Roses
  • Hybrid Red X Hybrid Red - Blue Roses
  • Watering Black Roses with a Golden Watering Can - Golden Roses

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
