Xbox Reveals Two New Controller Colors | Game Rant
Microsft continues to add to its ever-expanding library of controllers for the Xbox One, with two new controllers announced today as limited-time special editions: Phantom Magenta and Arctic Camo. They will be available on March 17, 2020, for the Xbox One.
The controllers are available to pre-order right now and will cost $69.99 each. Fans will also be able to purchase matching Controller Gear Xbox Pro charging stands that look sleek but also come at the price of $49.99. These controllers will be compatible with the Xbox Series X, but presumably don't have all the features of the new Xbox Series X controller.
The Xbox One has had a long history of unique and varying Xbox controllers for players to purchase, often in limited quantities. Some fans will notice that the Arctic Camo controller looks similar to the Night Ops Camo controller that was made available in August of 2019. However, the Phantom Magenta option is certainly unique and may draw comparisons to Halo-esque aesthetics.
For those who consider themselves to be artistic, steering away from buying the specific special-edition designs that Microsft has to offer and instead creating their own masterpiece with the design lab may be the better option. This awesome feature allows fans to make their own custom controller with hundreds of options to choose from.
The Xbox One controller is one of the best-designed controllers of all time. The button layout is stellar, the form factor and size seems to fit like a glove for many gamers, and it's extremely versatile. It makes sense for fans to buy multiple controllers and stock up on some of the more fun and unique color designs.
Still, the best overall design for the Xbox One is probably the Elite Controller Series 2. The Elite controller would benefit from some additional color choices, as it is only available in the standard black, and was only available in white one time. The standard Xbox One controller has seen dozens, and with the Design Lab thousands, of color options, it's odd that the Elite Controller only has one option. Perhaps once the Xbox Series X is launched, since the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 will be compatible with the new console, Microsoft will introduce some new color variations for that controller as well.
