Animal Crossing: New Horizons - How to Get the Gold Shovel

Getting all the golden tools in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be a massive quality of life upgrade for players. While all of the golden tools are incredibly difficult to get, the golden shovel is one of the hardest, and the reason might not be the one players are expecting.

Much like the gold watering can and golden axe, the gold shovel has a massive increase in durability over the regular shovel. Players can use it about 200 times before it breaks. Considering the flimsy shovel only works 40 times, and the regular shovel 100 times, this is a big increase for players who just want to dig without worrying about replacing their tools all the time.

In order to get the recipe for the golden shovel, players will have to help Gulliver 30 whole times. To help Gulliver, players have to dig up his five missing communicator pieces on the beach and bring them back. Gulliver's appearances are completely random, and so it can take more than a month or two to get this recipe.

Unless players time travel. Players can keep time-skipping to a new day, check the beach, and then skip ahead again if Gulliver is not on the beach. That will move along the 30 times much faster, allowing players to unlock this recipe in no time at all. Then players will be able to craft the tool at their workbench.

For the recipe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will have to have one axe and one golden nugget. Players can get the DIY recipe for the regular axe from the Pretty Good Tools DIY Recipe book with 3,000 Nook miles from the kiosk. To build a shovel, players will need one flimsy shovel and one iron nugget.

To get nuggets, players can farm them from rocks with their axe. Although golden nuggets don't drop often, players will need one for each golden tool they wish to build, so make sure to hold onto them instead of selling. Each of these golden tools will help players be able to build the perfect island getaway for themselves.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.
