New Fan-Made Bionicle Open World RPG Revealed | Game Rant

Lego's Bionicle was once an incredibly popular line of toys for children before it fell into obscurity, giving way to newcomers like Ninjago, but one group of fans has done anything but forget it. In fact, it appears that a fan-made open world project based on Bionicle has been in development for six years, just recently now being revealed to the world.

The game is titled Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui and is set during the first year of Bionicle, before the plethora of expansions and material Lego would release for it. It follows the Toa while collecting the 6 great masks power to defeat the evil Makuta and has a ton of features, beyond simply being a beautiful fan project.

Not only is it an open world RPG, but it features multiple environments, "intricate combat," side quests, undersea gameplay, multiplayer, and promises to support a plethora of playstyles. While discussing this, the trailer focuses in on Bionicle parts of the wall, so this may come way of customization. It also seems changing masks gives the player new abilities to use, based on their use in the video for Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui below.

Fans of the old Lego property may be ecstatic to see new Bionic material, even if it isn't sponsored officially, but unfortunately, there's no release date. One also has to imagine that the Lego Group will say something, although there are plenty of fan projects that have lasted for some time like The Ocarina of Time remake.

Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui is a fan project in development.
