PAX West 2020 Still Planned for September Despite Coronavirus Concerns

It's unclear how long much of the world will continue to be closed as a safety measure due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic dictating social distancing and the banning of large-scale gatherings. When PAX East was held in February, companies including Sony were already dropping out to keep their employees safe. However, PAX West announced today that it is currently still planning to hold a convention from September 4 to 7.

This might change in the future, as PAX will continue to watch the public health situation and listen to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, according to a news post put out by PAX West today. But for now, "Actions already taken by our convention center and local government have left us optimistic."

Apparently the organization has "gotten a lot of questions from fans and exhibitors," which makes sense in the wake of more and more cancellations that continue to be announced by conventions like Anime Expo. PAX West will be taking place in Seattle, Washington, and more information will be posted to its website "in the coming months."

The end of the news post references the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Animal Crossing New Horizons, the latter of which will be updated with new content this week.
