Peaky Blinders Video Game Announced | Game Rant
Futurlab has just announced a new game based on the hit BBC series Peaky Blinders, titled Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, which gives players a chance to control the show's ensemble. The game promises to be a puzzle-adventure game made as a collaborative effort between the Velocity developers and show creator Steven Knight.
Peaky Blinders: Mastermind will be coming to consoles as well as PC, and uses an inventive planning mechanic that lets players plan out their routes before enacting them, similar to the gameplay from John Wick: Hex. With heavy inspirations from the show, the game will take the part of a prequel, setting up for the beginning of season one of the Peaky Blinders TV series.
According to Game Director James Marsden, the systems come from the concept of the "soldier's minute" which is a core part of Tommy Shelby's character from the series. This has led the team to develop a system where players create a plan by moving forward and backward through time as they tackle different parts of each puzzle with the different members of the team. The result makes for an inventive combination of puzzle and tactical mechanics, from games like Gears Tactics, as players set out to create the perfect "soldier's minute" for each situation.
With the game working as a prequel, players will have to make sure not to get Tommy Shelby killed before the events of the show. However, with all of the tools available from character to character, it seems like it'll be a fairly compelling task.
Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is currently in development for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
