WWE 2K20 Being Used to Simulate Dream Matches With Wrestler Commentary
The coronavirus has taken a severe toll on multiple events and sporting leagues, and among them the WWE has been struggling hard to keep its shows going while ensuring the safety of its wrestlers. Even so, there have been problems caused by the virus, including Roman Reigns dropping out of Wrestlemania 36, reportedly due to being immunocompromised.
This is far from the only problem the WWE is facing with its upcoming Wrestlemania, which is the biggest event of the year for the organization, concluding all the major storylines of the year. In order to be as safe as possible while still holding the event, Wrestlemania will be live streamed from a closed studio with no audience.
In an attempt to bring more matches to people while still observing social distancing, the WWE, like other organizations, is turning to video games. In a livestream on April 2, WWE will be simulating several dream matches with iconic wrestlers in WWE 2K20, presumably with the wrestlers taking control of their in-game counterparts. While this idea certainly comes from a good-hearted place, anyone who is familiar with WWE 2K20 likely knows it launched as a hilariously buggy mess. Since then some patches have eased the glitches... somewhat.
While the streamed matches will no doubt be very entertaining one way or another, fans can only hope that the coronavirus will not ultimately derail the Undertaker's challenge to Dr. Disrespect.
