Animal Crossing: New Horizons Players Are Finding Haunted Paintings and Statues
As Animal Crossing: New Horizons players begin to celebrate May Day and the weather begins to warm for Northern Hemisphere users, some players have been feeling chills. They have found that some of their artwork purchased from Redd has some ghostly secrets.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players can unlock an art gallery inside of their museum. Once Redd comes to visit their island, players will be able to purchase art items from him. Some of these items will be legit, and some are fakes. Blathers will only take the real ones, but players can still purchase the fake ones for their own homes if they wish. But some of the fake pieces have some weird details that will make most players feel creeped out.
Interacting with fake art pieces at night will sometimes lead players to see some spooky details. Players have reported everything from blinking portraits to floating statues. As an example, here is a video of the Wistful painting, which is based on Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer. In this video, players can watch as the girl with the pearl earring goes to sleep for the evening:
This super creepy addition makes these fake paintings even less desirable for many players, which makes having them even more annoying. These paintings are hard to get rid of, as no one wants them. The fakes can't be placed in the museum, probably because Blathers doesn't want these super haunted paintings either.
Nook's Cranny doesn't want them, and villagers don't want them as presents. The only way to get rid of these creepy pieces is to find a garbage can and just toss them. While it's a loss of 5,000 bells, it is probably worth it to make sure that perfect islands don't end up infested with ghosts.
However, there are probably several Animal Crossing: New Horizons' players that will want these artworks even more now that they know how creepy they can be. So maybe there will be a market to sell them on Nookazon, or to trade them for goods with other players.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.
