Call of Duty Modern Warfare Hardhat Map Guide | Game Rant

This week's announcement from Activision revealed the upcoming map Hardhat for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This fan-favorite map is one of many that has been resurrected from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and brought to the 2019 Modern Warfare release.

Hardhat is set in New York City and provides a great opportunity for close-quarters combat due to its small size. Some areas provide a chance for medium-range battles, but long-ranged engagements have very few sightlines available. This makes this a prime map for shotgun and SMG fans.

Hardhat is famous for its small size and lane constraints making it a quick map to play in with brutal and fast encounters. In similar remakes, Infinity Ward has kept true to the main design of every map. Small improvements and tweaks have been made, but the core design still stays the same every time. This means that fans can have some expectations when going into Hardhat. There are two main segments of the map that every COD player must be aware of.

The center of the map is the focal point of the entire area. All routes converge to one section while an outer ring gives players a chance to find their best approach. The building located in the middle gives great cover, and with two main access points similar to Rust, this spot can easily be defended by a well-coordinated team.

The Pipe is the most infamous part of the original map. Located in the northern section of the map is a long pipe. Once inside, players have the option of going forward or backward with little to no cover. This makes it one of the best places to set up for sniper shots or high accuracy weapons, and one of the main locations that the player should avoid. Although it does provide fast access to the center, it is a vulnerable position with nowhere to run if a player finds confrontation.

The close-quarter nature of the map makes smoke grenades highly effective when turning corners. There are multiple points that can be mounted allowing for easy access to choke points at key corners of the map. Recon equipment can also come in handy, so it is recommended to bring a Snapshot Grenade and Thermal Optics in loadouts. Traps can also be effective when left in small areas and at the corner of sharp turns. This is a fast-paced map that people tend to rush through, giving smart players a chance for some easy kills.

This is a small map, so Shotguns and SMGs will be the most effective here. Light Machine Gun fans will find this a great map to mow down enemies, but reloading can quickly become a death sentence. Assault Rifles can do well when focused down tight alleys or the pipe, but they lack the speed needed to navigate through the outer parts of the map. This is a location where players will want to be mobile, so Marksman Rifles would be a better choice over Sniper Rifles.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
