Rainbow Six Siege Steel Wave Adding Ace and Melusi Operators
Even though developer Ubisoft is dealing with a lawsuit currently, it has recently revealed the new operators that are coming with Operation Steel Wave in Rainbow Six Siege. The new seasonal Operation brings along a new hard breaching attacker that is known as Ace, as well as the new three-speed defender with a disruption gadget, known as Melusi.
With Siege's brand new update, players will have access to Ace. He is the new attacking operator in Rainbow Six Siege that brings the S.E.L.M.A. Aqua Breacher gadget for dealing with pesky reinforced walls. The Selma is a throwable gadget that will stick and deploy to destructible surfaces. After a short period of time, it will detonate and drop downwards, creating another hole and this effect can happen up to three times.
This would mean that Ace is similar to how Hibana functions with her pellets while also having the breaching capability of Thermite, given enough time. With there being many options now in Rainbow Six Siege to bust into objectives, this means that there is a need for an operator to slow down the pace of matches and that is where Melusi comes in.
Melusi is the first defender since the release of Alibi in Operation Para Bellum to be a three-speed defender, which already makes her seem more appealing. Her gadget is the Banshee Sonic Defense gadget which will emit a loud humming sound for nearby attackers while also slowing them down significantly in battles.
Melusi can potentially be a must-pick operator in team compositions that revolve around stopping attackers from rushing straight into an objective. With the new operators being revealed, Ubisoft also revealed changes to Amaru's Garra Hook gadget that allows her to have smoother movement. It also revealed a new rework for the map, House, and a new defender gadget that is known as the proximity alarm that will emit a loud sound when attackers are nearby.
Ace and Melusi could become some of the most powerful operators that are necessary for teams when either attacking or defending but, it is too early to say that exactly. When players get their hands on these new operators along with the new changes, then it would be much fairer to make a clearer assessment of their impact and usefulness in-game.
Rainbow Six: Siege is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
