Guilty Gear Strive Delayed to 2021 | Game Rant
Guilty Gear Strive, a new entry in the series, is unfortunately being delayed until 2021 due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Developer Arc System Works broke the news in a statement released on Twitter.
The game’s producer, Takeshi Yamanaka, explained that due to complications regarding production and business efforts, Guilty Gear Strive will miss its scheduled late 2020 release and instead come out early 2021. The title will be the seventh main entry in the popular anime-inspired fighting game series.
Yamanaka added that the team will not be sitting idle and will be using the extra time to continue polishing the game. The game recently finished a closed beta from April 16 through 19 and feedback from that will be used to further tweak and balance the fighting mechanisms. "Ourselves, we are dedicated to bringing you a new Guilty Gear game that will satisfy all of our fans,” Yamanaka said in the statement. “Please be assured that we will make good use of that extra time to do this."
Guilty Gear Strive hasn’t been the only game to get hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak. Prior to the leak of game footage, Sony’s The Last of Us Part 2 was delayed indefinitely as was Sony's Marvel collaboration, Iron Man VR. Minecraft’s dungeon crawler spin-off, Minecraft Dungeons, was also pushed back from April to May 26.
Guilty Gear Strive is currently set for a Q1 2021 release on the PlayStation 4.
