PS5 DualSense Controller Price and Release Date Leaked

The PlayStation 5 remains on schedule to be released holiday 2020. For now, though, PlayStation fans are trying to patiently wait for Sony to reveal more information about the console. Whether that be the PS5's design, its price, or even its launch line up, Sony's kept its secrets, but some secrets don't seem to be lasting. The latest example is said to be a leak revealing the DualSense controller's price and release date. Until officially confirmed, however, this leak is best taken with a grain of salt.

The leak comes from Twitter user IronManPS5, who has claimed several different PS5-related leaks over the past several weeks. On social media, Iron Man says that the DualSense controller for the PS5 be available standalone starting November 20, 2020. This is also the date that Iron Man has implied that the PS5 will become available. The standalone DualSense controller will then cost $59.99 in North America.

$59.99 is also the price of the standard DualShock 4 controller and has been since the launch of the PlayStation 4 in 2013. The price hasn't dropped since. However, non-standard versions of the controller including simple color changes have an increased price of $64.99. A DualSense price at $59.99 would be fitting.

While Iron Man doesn't clarify whether or not a DualShock 4 controller will be bundled with the PS5, it can also likely be assumed. Bundling in controllers with consoles has been a tradition for decades. That means PS5 gamers will only have to purchase a second controller if they so choose.

Also unclear is if there will be non-standard versions of the DualSense controller available at launch. If there are, their price will likely be $64.99, like with the DualShock 4. Sony does love its different colors for controllers, but whether they'll be out at launch versus made available at a delayed date.

It's worth repeating that Iron Man hasn't been proven to be a reliable leaker as of yet. They've shared a lot of information about the PS5, including its apparent release date of November 20, an unannounced feature named Boost Mode for PS4 games on PS5, and now the DualSense release date and price. They've also hinted at a major game announcement being announced around May 20. It'll be a good test for whether Iron Man is reliable. Until then, manage expectations.

The PS5 releases holiday 2020.
