Animal Crossing: New Horizons Elephant Villager Breakdown
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for a few months now, but players are still glued to its charming gameplay and unique cast of adorable villagers. Although some players would opt for the more popular villager species, such as cats, there may be those who could be interested in underrated characters in the game, such as the elephant villagers.
Overall, there are thirteen elephant villagers in the entire series, but only eleven of them appear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The personality types of these elephant villagers are diverse, although there are no sisterly or smug elephants in the series. Now, for those who are looking whether elephant villagers are worth a chance, here is a list of every single elephant in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Starting off the list of adorable elephant villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the jock villager Axel. He made his debut appearance in the franchise in Animal Forest and has since been a villager in every mainline Animal Crossing game, with the exception of Animal Crossing: Wild World. Axel's name is derived from a part in a vehicle, which matches his jock personality who is into fitness and cars. Axel's character design features a dark blue skin tone and paintbrush-tipped tail.
Next on the list is the lazy elephant villager Big Top, who has appeared in every mainline Animal Crossing game. His name is a reference to the main arena of a circus, which is called a big top, where elephants are mainly situated. Due to his lazy personality, Big Top is easy to befriend and will be nice towards the player and other villagers on the island. However, due to differences in lifestyle choices, lazy villagers have the tendency to get into conflict with jock villagers.
Unlike Axel and Big Top, Cyd is a new villager that was first introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons before heading to the mobile game, Pocket Camp. His overall appearance sports a red skin tone and a purple mohawk that represents his rebel side. He is also under the cranky personality, which means that he is difficult to befriend and will get angry with anyone who disagrees with what he has to say.
Next is Dizzy who is another lazy elephant villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Interestingly enough, Dizzy is a veteran Animal Crossing villager and has since appeared in all games from the popular social simulator franchise. His overall character design features a gray and white color scheme and due to his lazy personality, conversations with him would mostly revolve around leisure activities and food. Although he is generally a nice villager, he may find it difficult to mix with jock villagers, due to their active personality.
Next on the list is the adorable normal elephant villager Ellie, who first appeared in the first Animal Crossing game. Her character design sports a milk chocolate brown color scheme with black pie-eyes. Of course, given her normal personality, Ellie is good-natured and will never say anything rude to the player and other villagers. Moreover, she mixes well with most AC:NH personality types but may come in conflict with cranky and sisterly villagers.
Eloise is the snooty elephant villager that a lot of players love to hate. Although her appearance makes it seem that she is nice and friendly, her snooty personality makes her appear cold and distant, especially before the player befriends her. Moreover, Eloise is known for her harsh and rude comments, and she will be spending some of her time spreading rumors and gossiping about other villagers.
Another normal elephant villager on this list is Margie, who first appeared in Animal Forest e+ before returning to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Her appearance sports a white skin tone, but her arms and feet comprise of multiple colors. Similar to Ellie, Margie is generally nice to the player and villagers and is easy to befriend. Interestingly enough, Margie also appeared in the movie Dobutsu no Mori or is also known as Animal Crossing: The Movie in English. Margie's role in the film is an aspiring fashion designer who is also the friend of Ai, the movie's protagonist.
Opal is another snooty elephant villager in AC: New Horizons, and she has appeared in most games in the franchise. Opal sports a green skin tone and her smile is often described as mischievous, which matches her snooty personality. Similar to other villagers with the same personality, Opal is difficult to befriend, may say rude remarks, and is obsessed with fashion and physical appearance, often criticizing villagers for their outfit choices. Nonetheless, Opal will get along with most personalities except jock villagers.
The third lazy elephant villager in this list is Paolo, who has appeared in most mainline Animal Crossing games. Paolo sports a hot pink skin tone with beady eyes, dark thick eyebrows, and a crooked smile on the side of his face. As a lazy villager, Paolo is friendly towards most villagers on the island and will often talk up his laid back lifestyle. He also loves talking about food, relaxation, comics, and superheroes. As usual, Paolo will get along with normal, peppy, smug, and sisterly villagers, and he may come into conflict with snooty, cranky, and jock villagers.
Next is the cute normal elephant villager Tia, who appears to be based on a mammoth. Her overall character design strongly resembles a teapot, making her one of the most uniquely designed characters in the entire Animal Crossing franchise. Due to her normal personality, Tia would get along with everyone apart from cranky and sisterly villagers.
Last on the list is Tucker, and similar to Tia, he appears to be also based on a mammoth than an elephant. Interestingly enough, Tucker also has a lazy personality, making him the fourth lazy elephant villager in AC: New Horizons. His character design makes him appear like a wooly mammoth with a brown color scheme and huge tusks. Similar to other lazy villagers, Tucker loves talking about food and relaxation, and will not get along with jock villagers due to the obvious differences in lifestyle.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
