Apex Legends' Lost Treasures Wraith Skin is Broken, Respawn Investigating

Apex Legends’ latest collection event, Lost Treasures, went live today, bringing with it a handful of new character skins alongside all of the other new content added to the game. Unfortunately, one of these skins comes with an unintended perk that could cause some headaches for players.

While skins are meant to be purely cosmetic items in most games, updates can be unpredictable with how they change up a game, and as such new skins can end up glitched in ways that have a tangible effect on gameplay. Such is the case with Wraith’s new Marble Goddess skin, which turns the void-walking Legend into a gun-toting Grecian statue, because players have discovered that it also removes Wraith’s headshot hitbox.

Reddit user vazxlegend sounded the alarm on this issue, sharing footage showing this glitch in action. As it clearly shows, the headshots they land on the test subject in the Marble Goddess skin incorrectly register as less damaging body shots. This allows the test subject to survive precision hits from both the Wingman and the Kraber, a weapon that can land instant kills with a headshot. Meanwhile, the headshot the test subject lands on vazxlegend, who’s in a different Wraith skin, registers as normal.

The Marble Goddess is obviously broken, but on the plus side, Respawn Entertainment is already investigating the issue. One of Apex Legend’s game designers, Daniel Klein, replied to vazxlegend’s post confirming that, “We’re aware and looking at it.” This suggests a fix for the skin’s unfair buff won’t be too far off.

Luckily, it seems all of the other changes that Respawn has made to Wraith this week were intentional. While not as substantial as the changes made to other Legends like Lifeline, these manage to revamp her Phase Walk with increased movement speed and ability duration, along with the ability to see other players while using it. On the other hand, though, the ability’s activation time has been tripled, a move meant to encourage players to use it more for scouting and repositioning.

Going back to the Marble Goddess, it’s not yet known when Respawn will be able to patch out its headshot protection, but for now, the skin is available for players to acquire until the Lost Treasures event wraps up on July 7.

Apex Legends is free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with Steam and Switch versions coming this fall.
