Divinity Original Sin 2: Definitive Edition iPad Version in the Works

Both iPad gamers and fans of Divinity: Original Sin 2 are getting good news. The game's Definitive Edition will be coming to iPad with a currently TBA release date.

Larian Studios will be collaborating with Apple and Elverils on porting the game to iPad. Apple demoed the game at WWDC 2020, where it showed viewers a bit of what they can look forward to. However, the video is not final and more changes will likely be made in the porting process. The team plans to add new touch screen controls, UI, and controller support to the port of Divinity 2: Original Sin.

The port is reportedly "a long way from release" and a full list of features has not yet been revealed. However, Divinity: Original Sin 2 players recently got some new content in the form of a free DLC goodie bag called The Four Relics of Revillon that dropped earlier this month. A previous gift bag dropped at the beginning of this year; Larian Studios is not stingy on free content.

The PC version of Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is currently available in the 2020 Steam Summer Sale for half price. The Definitive Edition has upgraded graphics and physics engine over the original version, and those better visuals will look stunning on the iPad.

The game is hailed as one of the best modern CRPGs and is praised for its high quality and balanced blend of humor and drama. It's following in the footsteps of several other popular PC games that were ported to iPad, given the device's growing games market. Divinity: Original Sin 2 and its predecessor have been popular on console and PC, so if the port is done well, it makes sense that the game would do well on iPad too.

This iPad port isn't the only project Larian Projects is working on, as it's also developing Baldur's Gate 3. Given the polished nature of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the studio is no doubt putting in a lot of time into the details of the Baldur's Gate game and the Divinity iOS port. And the latter has the help of help of Apple and Elverils and their high standards. Fans can and should expect high quality from the iOS port.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
