Minecraft Nether Update Release Date Announced | Game Rant
Minecraft is about to change forever. Mojang's next major update for Minecraft, the Nether Update, now has an official release date. The update is going to expand the Nether in a significant and impactful way, drawing adventurers like never before. Minecraft players will be able to discover the secrets of the Nether for themselves starting June 23.
Perhaps the biggest addition in the Nether Update is the Netherite material, which allows players to craft Netherite armor and weapons that are both stronger and more durable than their diamond counterparts. However, in order to craft Netherite armor and weapons, players must upgrade their diamond armor and weapons with the new material in ingot form. Diamonds will be more valuable than ever, and Netherite will add a fitting endgame goal for the most dedicated Minecraft players.
Netherite isn't the only addition in the Nether Update, of course. Two other additions to the Nether include the Piglins and the Hoglins. Piglins are a new faction of NPCs being added to Minecraft. They're typically complacent, unless you open a chest around them, or do something else that'll unsettle them. Above all else, Piglins adore gold, which can prove useful in a pinch. Hoglins, on the other hand, are aggressive beasts to be avoided. Even the Piglins will prioritize fighting them if they get near.
There are other additions coming in the Nether Update, too, like the all-new Restone switch Target Block. Players will have to discover the rest on their own, after all, that's the intention of the Nether Update. It's to get Minecraft players into the Nether, whether it's to mine or adventure or just to have fun.
Minecraft is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices. The Nether Update comes to all platforms, including the Java version, on June 23.
