Red Dead Redemption 2 Steelbook Case Hides an Interesting Secret
Eagle-eyed Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have noticed yet another incredible detail about the game, though this one isn't actually found inside Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead, one fan found an interesting Red Dead Redemption 2 detail on the inside of the Ultimate Edition's steelbook case.
Warning: Red Dead Redemption 2 Spoilers ahead.
On the inside of the steelbook case, fans will notice that the members of the Van Der Linde gang are lined up on either side, each holding their weapons. The interesting aspect here is that each side represents the major players of the gang going against each other towards the end of the game. On the left, Arthur, Sadie, John, and Charles stand facing the right, which appears to show Dutch, Micah, Bill, and Javier.
Those that beat the game will remember this as the two sides of the game's sort of Civil War. It's an interesting choice, and something many might not pick up on until actually beating the game. It's also a bit strange that Rockstar included such a major potential spoiler for Red Dead Redemption 2's ending, as it could be seen as a giveaway for the ending.
That being said, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel, and the first game follows John Marston as he puts down his former gang members, so anyone with the Ultimate Edition likely had an idea of where the story was headed. Still, for those new to the franchise, it could be considered a fairly major story spoiler.
Fans notice small Red Dead Redemption 2 details fairly frequently, making the game one 0f the most detail-oriented currently out there. It's an incredible achievement for Rockstar, and it's fair to say that many more details will be discovered about the game in the future.
Of course, that level of detail did come with a cost. Rockstar has a notorious crunch culture, and while things are beginning to improve at the studio, it's drawn quite a bit of legitimate criticism for how hard it can work employees. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a massive critical and commercial success, but it did come at a steep human cost too, a cost that is all too regular in the games industry.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
