Wonder Woman 1984 and Tenet Releases Delayed | Game Rant
The movie and television industry has been impacted considerably by the coronavirus crisis, with movie releases and film productions being placed on hold. Although Cinemark movie theaters are opening later this month, the eagerly-awaited films Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984 will be pushed back from their planned release dates.
Warner Bros., the studio behind both films, revealed that Tenet would be pushed back from its planned July 17 release to July 31. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman 1984 has had a considerably longer push-back, moving from the already-delayed August 14 release date to October 2.
While some states have taken steps to re-open their economies and thus open movie theaters again, Warner Bros. likely wants to reach as many theater-goers as possible, and pushing back the films just a little more may help. However, it's not entirely pulling their films from theaters, as Warner Bros. also revealed that it will be re-releasing Inception to theaters on July 17 in honor of its tenth anniversary.
Fans are likely disappointed to have to wait even longer for these two expected blockbusters, but as long as coronavirus infections continue, it's likely that these delays won't be the last. The first major blockbuster after theaters re-open will now be Mulan, which studio execs will no doubt be watching closely to see how it fares in this strange new world.
