World's Biggest Gaming Show Cancels First-Ever Singapore Event

Yet another video game convention has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers of the first-ever Gamescom Asia have announced that the inaugural show will not happen as planned in October. Instead, it's being delayed an entire year, to October 14-17, 2021.

Gamescom Asia was set to take place in Singapore, and it would have marked the first Gamescom event outside of the marquee show in Colonge, Germany that's known for attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees.

"As much as we would have loved to bring the event to life this October, the current global crisis has forced us to recalibrate our wants for Gamescom Asia," the organizers said in a statement. "The health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and staff is paramount. Moreover, for an inaugural event, we felt it was important to give the regional gaming community and fans the full experience of what an international event of this scale would be like, and not anything less."
