Pokemon GO: Grimer Weakness and Best Counters | Game Rant
Pokemon GO is currently holding GO Fest Battle Challenges where players have to fight and defeat members of Team GO Rocket. While the grunts can be a breeze to deal with most of the time, the admins of Team GO Rocket are no pushover.
There are six different special members of Team Go Rocket that players can face in Pokemon GO. They are the admins Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra, the dangerous duo from the Pokemon anime, Jessie and James, and Team Go Rocket's leader, Giovanni.
When facing Cliff, he may have the Pokemon, Grimer. This Pokemon is a pure poison-type that evolves into Muk and can be caught as a shadow Pokemon after defeating Cliff. Grimer also comes in an Alolan form where it is a dual poison and dark-type. However, Cliff only seems to have the Kanto form of Grimer during this event.
Since Grimer is a pure poison-type, it is weak to ground-type and psychic-type moves. Thankfully for players, there are plenty of powerful Pokemon that are capable of learning strong ground and psychic moves. Due to this typing, Grimer is also resistant to fighting, poison, bug, grass, and fairy moves, so players should keep those types of Pokemon out of the fight.
Great fast moves that can help whittle down Grimer's health are:
- Confusion
- Mud Slap
- Zen Headbutt
On the other hand, there are also plenty of charge moves that can instantly take Grimer down if used correctly. Some of the best moves to use in this category are:
- Earthquake
- Dig
- Earth Power
- Future Sight
- Psystrike
- Psychic
When fighting members of Team GO Rocket, players don't have to worry about CP limitations or banned Pokemon, so any Pokemon can be used in a battle as long as they haven't fainted. This means that players can take advantage of powerful legendarily that they may have collected or other strong Pokemon they've raised. Some Pokemon that do well offensively and defensively against Grimer include:
- Alakazam
- Cresselia
- Mewtwo
- Metagross
- Darmanitan (Zen)
- Garchomp
- Landorus (Therian)
- Swampert
- Rhyperior
- Mamoswine
If a player loses a fight against a member of Team GO Rocket, they can rematch them as many times as they want as long as they have enough Pokemon or revives to bring their Pokemon back. There isn't any real penalty for losing other than the defeated Pokemon fainting.
Pokemon GO is available now on the App Store and Google Play.
