Horizon: Zero Dawn is Massively Popular on PC | Game Rant
Horizon: Zero Dawn is considered by many to be one of the best PlayStation exclusive titles on the PS4. At least it was exclusive, now that Horizon has finally released on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Horizon: Zero Dawn originally launched on PS4 back in 2017 to widespread popularity and critical acclaim. Now, the game is receiving even more popularity after launching on PC earlier today.
Horizon: Zero Dawn was rumored to be coming to PC for quite a while before it was officially confirmed by Guerrilla Games. Following the official confirmation and the game popping up on the marketplace, Horizon was already doing well on Steam, with many players pre-purchasing or wishlisting the game months before release. Players were excited to see how PC specifications could boost the performance of the already incredibly beautiful world and environments that Horizon took place in.
Though, players are going to need some pretty powerful machines to hit the recommended PC specs for Horizon – at least to experience it to the fullest. Now, it’s being reported on Steam that the game has hit over 50,000 concurrent players on the first day of its launch on PC. By using the website SteamDB, the all-time peak of concurrent players for the game on Steam reached 56,557. That number is pretty staggering for any game on Steam, let alone on the title’s launch day.
However, it seems that Horizon’s PC launch isn’t without its hiccups. There are many reports that players are experiencing PC lagging issues while playing the game. Additionally, other reports from major video game media outlets like Eurogamer and Ars Technica have reported some pretty severe optimization and performance issues that the sites encountered while playing the game for coverage or review. Guerrilla has already released a day one patch to address some of the technical issues that are plaguing some users.
Still, it seems that many players are enjoying Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC already, if the Steam numbers are any indication. Before launch, Guerrilla outlined Horizon’s PC features like an unlocked framerate, ultra-wide monitor support, dynamic foliage, and a plethora of other features not possible on PS4. Hopefully, many of the technical issues can be ironed out of the weekend, so players can enjoy Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC to the fullest.
Horizon Zero Dawn is available now on PS4 and PC.
