ASUS Reveals Its Line of GeForce 30 Series Graphics Cards
It's been a big day for PC hardware, as new graphics cards from Nvidia have been revealed to the world, with Asus now debuting their line of 30 series GPUs. And while the cards will cost a pretty penny depending on the level fans decide to go with, they pack a powerful punch for those willing to invest in them.
Asus announced a host of new RTX 30 Series cards today, including the ROG Strix and ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, GeForce RTX 3080, as well as the ROG Strix and ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070 models. The cards boast greatly improved performance over 20 series models because of the Nvidia Ampere architecture, which delivers 1.9 times the performance per watt compared to the older cards.

The top-end options will support up to 8K gaming, which isn't very prevalent today, but gamers looking to future-proof their setups might appreciate the additional horsepower. That being said, users not looking for 8K graphics can still expect sizeable boosts to framerates, even oven high-resolution rigs, like those running 1440p and 4K.
The cards boast a host of other performance as well, with availability beginning in September according to Asus. PC gaming has steadily grown in prevalence for the last few years, garnering a larger audience for numerous reasons. For those investing in gaming PCs, the platform may soon be host to numerous previously exclusive games, as Microsoft pivots its business model, and Sony explores more PlayStation exclusives on PC.
That all comes at a cost, though. Asus didn't announce the specific pricing for its cards, but if it follows Nvidia's footsteps, fans can expect to drop a considerable amount of money on the new GPUs, but the 3090 has 24 GB of GDDR6X memory, so that's all going somewhere. Those dedicated to sharp graphics and high framerates, though, will likely still see some appeal for the cards.
With the PS5 and Xbox Series X on the horizon, PC is an alternative for those that don't mind the added complexity of building and maintaining a PC, versus the relative simplicity of purchasing a console that's ready to go out of the box. Those looking to invest in 30 series cards will likely be prepared for this extra layer, though.
With Asus' cards slated for release later this month, there's not too much longer to wait before upgrading. Those that are will want to begin saving now, though, as its bound to be a big investment.
