Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Reveals Campaign Mission With Frank Woods and Alex Mason
A new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trailer launched today, giving a look into one of the many missions in the new game. The teaser trailer peers into a scene that was hinted at during the main reveal, but now players get a more complete picture of this unique Black Ops Cold War operation.
In the new trailer, players get a great view of the stunning graphics that the next game will have. As this trailer did come from the PlayStation showcase, all gameplay footage was recorded on PlayStation 5 consoles. This gives a good look into how the graphics engine will look in the next generation of Call of Duty games.
The trailer puts the player's perspective as Mason in a stealth operation alongside Frank Woods. As Mason and the unit move forward, the trailer gives a show of the graphics in the next title by showcasing lighting, rain effects, and subtle environmental twitches that give the game a realistic perspective.
Once on top of a hill, Mason searches for his target before scoping in and firing. This turns the camera to a cinematic shot of the bullet traveling across the open area and hitting the wrong target. Suddenly, the entire area breaks out into gunfire as Mason rushes in, gunning down enemies and taking a hostage. As the situation starts to get under control, players watch as Mason pulls a pin on a grenade and shoves it in the hostage's pocket before pushing him into a pile of ammunition.
What follows is a chase, as Jeeps race forward after an escaping aircraft. With the target still on board, players have no choice but to use the RC-XD and bring down the landing gear in an attempt to ground the plane. As this entire scene players out players get to see the epic carnage of teh encounter and the massive dodging involved with the plane skidding across the runway. Players will have to take on operations similar to this throughout the Cold War Campaign.
This first look into campaign gameplay gives players an idea of what the entire experience will be like. The hardcore and fast reaction-based combat may even remind some of early Black Ops action, giving the entire experience a feeling of nostalgia.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
