Phil Spencer Had an Xbox Series S on His Shelf in July and No One Noticed
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer took multiple video interviews in July 2020 with an Xbox Series S simply sitting on his shelf, and no one noticed. The official Xbox Twitter account revealed the fun fact that in the #GAMELAB20 Keynote Fireside, Spencer had the unannounced Xbox Series S on a shelf over his left shoulder the whole time. Furthermore, Spencer also spoke with iJustine and Jenna Ezarik around the same time and also had the console in plain sight.
The reveal comes only days after the Xbox Series S was leaked and then officially announced. The Xbox Series S is an all-digital console that has many of the features of the Xbox Series X, but costs only $299 USD. While it has no disc drive and is only capable of running games at 1440p, it will run games at 120 FPS and supports DirectX ray tracing and 4K upscaling for games. Oh, and it's also the smallest Xbox ever. The Xbox Series S may have been revealed last week, but it was, according to Spencer, a week earlier than planned due to the previously mentioned leak of the console's design and price. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/08/xbox-series-s-world-premiere-reveal-trailer"] The Xbox Series X will cost $499 USD, and both it and Xbox Series S will be released on November 10, 2020.
