Remnant: From The Ashes - 10 Alternative Boss Kills | Game Rant

One of the highest-rated games in 2019, Remnant made a big impact for Gunfire Games. It put players in a human extinction crisis brought about by an unknown entity from another dimension. Fighting through foreign bad guys is hard enough, but players also have to pick the kill method in hopes of better rewards.

Most of these monsters would make the bravest person flinch. This is why knowing exactly what lies ahead is the smartest plan, especially if a player wishes to go after the alternative prize. Sometimes the easiest way forward doesn't always give the best loot.

10 Ent

This one provides the player with a choice, either route locks the item drop and stops the player from obtaining the other. If the normal route is taken, players kill Ent and receive the Spore Gland. This will let players purchase the Sporebloom, a long-range gun that deals 200 damage at the cost of reloading every shot. Players had better be sure before they pull the trigger.

If its legs are destroyed before taking Ent out, players will get the Twisted heart. Then the Petrified Maul will be available for purchase, a melee hammer that can deal damage to everything in the area. It's slow but heavy hits are perfect for those that want to get in the dirt where the action is.

9 Singe

Destroying Singe's tail before ending the fight will give players Dragon Links, making Smolder able to be purchased. One of the most versatile melee weapons in the game, Smolder allows players to deal large areas of damage with a fast recovery time. It's fast and well suited for players that are quick on their feet, it will be tough to find a situation it isn't suited for.

Keeping the tail intact will unlock Blazing Heart, making the Spitfire available. A flamethrower that while deals little damage initially, sets the target alight and deals over 100 damage in a 10-second span. Locked in a 15m range, players will have to open themselves up to damage and deal some serious harm.

8 Brabus

Brabus is a boss fight that can be avoided entirely, as long as the player is willing to cough up a pocket watch. It's also necessary that the questions asked are answered truthfully. On top of avoiding the fight, players will receive the Bandit Set, an outfit that will not only increase defenses but give players a chance at reclaiming ammunition.

This only works if the player's using a one-shot weapon, saving ammo and increasing damage. However, if the fight with Brabus is triggered, a chance at the Explosive Shot is accessible. Acting as a reckless blast, it will deal 240 damage to anyone in range, including allies. Overall, the Pocket Watch is a fair trade for a better reward.

7 Maul

Involving both the Houndmaster and Maul, players will have to be careful to get the sought after reward. Destroying the Houndmaster's horn will make Maul attack its master. This forces the player into a boss battle with the beast. If players put it down they will receive the Control Rod and have to travel to Wud's Shop in Rohm.

Placing the rod in the Vyr automaton's chest will activate the Ancient Construct boss fight. Once defeated it will give you the Ancient Core, the key to crafting the Iron Sentinel. A turret that deals 5 damage per shot but will land 150 shots before it ceases fire. Giving players a major advantage when they get stuck in a sticky situation.

6 Claviger

One of the 2 choices to get the key to the Undying King, 2 choices will also be available in this boss fight. If Claviger is allowed to absorb at least one minion and then defeated, the Stone Of The Guardian is dropped. Used to craft the World Breaker, a heavy hammer that will deal 45 damage when it lands.

If the boss is blocked from absorbing any minions, one of the biggest damage dealers in the game is unlocked. Using the Void Sliver to craft a Particle Accelerator, players have a massive 500 damage potential when fired. It will open up a Gravity Well that explodes after 5 seconds and adds an extra 300 damage per enemy.

5 Harrow

The second option to retrieve the key for the Undying King, facing Harrow is no easy task. To get the reward players will have to stagger the boss by shooting its legs, causing the beast to drop to the floor. It's here players have the opportunity to grab the Lost Harpoon behind it, a fast and powerful weapon that causes radiation damage to the enemy.

If the fight is ended without grabbing the harpoon, a Thermal Geode can be acquired. Using it to craft the Defiler, a gun that fires bouncing bullets with a 56 damage potential each. There are 6 bullets fired in a blast, giving the player a 336 damage output with every shot fired.

4 Undying King

Meeting the daunting figure is a must, however, players can forgo the fight by accepting his requests by bringing him the Guardian's Heart. This will open the portal to Corsus and leave the player heartless and talking to the Iskal Queen, leading the player into another boss fight. The Undead King will give you Riven, a scythe that swings wide and fast.

If the player decides to fight the king and wins, they will inherit the Kingslayer trait, it will increase Critical Damage from thereon. Players will also pick up Ruin, a gun that will not only provide accurate long shots but can revive the player if they meet their end. 50% health on revival is a big advantage in the battles to come, some might say necessary.

3 Ixillis

As if it's not bad enough, players will have to fight 2 Ixillis' to end this fight. Focusing on one and taking it out will lead the other to become enraged, and lock the reward as the Hivestone when the fight ends. The Hive Cannon can then be crafted, shooting projectiles of insects that include explosive rounds that deal corrosive damage.

If the player manages to take them both out at the same time or in quick succession, dropping the Guardian Tentacle. The Guardian Axe can be crafted, an equally relentless axe. Providing 3 different attack styles, it releases a barrage of attacks that deal big damage in a small period of time.

2 Totem Father

Staying true to the boss's name, players can alternate the drop between a gun or spear depending on the color. This choice will also change the stance and attack style of its boss and minions, from ranged to melee and back. If the totem is blue, the boss will attack in a ranged stance and so the weapon will be a rifle. Delivering 65 shock damage to the enemy and causing over 300 damage when they get within 4 metres of each other.

If the boss fights in melee, the Totem Father will drop the Tempest Heartstring. This leads to the Voice Of The Tempest, a spear that gives the player more control over the effect on the enemy. Regular attacks have a 55% chance of dealing Overload, the charged attacks have a guaranteed Overload effect and create chaos on the battlefield.

1 The Ravager

While this beast can be intimidating, taking it out yields great rewards. If players choose to take on the task head-on and come out victorious, they will pick up the Tentacle Pod. This will then be crafted into the Curse Of The Jungle God, a gun that spawns a tentacle from the ground. It deals 75 shock damage and causes the Overload effect on impact, causing damage from 2 separate sources.

This fight can be avoided totally by completing a puzzle that activates a lullaby, putting the grizzled hound to sleep. It can then be approached and talked to in a much calmer state, gifting players the Scar Of The Jungle God. Melee blades that have a 36-100% chance of causing bleeding, dealing 150 damage in 15 seconds to any enemy.
