Among Us Meme Exposes a Big Flaw in Imposter Game | Game Rant
Among Us is the sudden success that no one saw coming, but the two-year-old Among Us game gained overnight popularity after a few streamers decided to Let's Play it on Twitch. And since then, some of the flaws, plot holes, and other issues with the game have come to light.
Among Us is an online game that pits "Crewmate" players against homicidal hidden "Imposters" that are trying to pass as Crewmates. The game was originally released in 2018, but recently saw a massive popularity surge, bringing the old Find 'Em-style game into the limelight. But that light hasn't always been kind; with millions of Among Us players logging in to seek out Imposters everyday, it seems inevitable that they would find some issues and inconsistencies with the game.
While there are many issues with Among Us that players have complained about, there is one meme that really points out one of the weird story inconsistencies in the game. u/asilestr from Reddit posted this meme, displaying the issue:
Many of those who commented on this meme brought forth a number of other issues, including several comments wondering where all the leaves are coming from when the Among Us ship is in space, why Crewmates are kept alive if they can do all their tasks like the Skeld Task while dead, and why anyone would throw perfectly good gems in the trash.
While some argue that an O2 failure would kill the crew simply because their suits would eventually run out of air and requires the ship's O2 to survive, the main fact is that in the game, such small things no longer matter. The game states that O2 failures kill the crew, so players have to run to complete the task to fix it before it ends the round and the Imposters win. O2 sabotage is such a great way for Imposters to distract while they commit murders, making it easier for Among Us imposters to blend in with the Crew and win rounds.
In spite of its plethora of issues, Among Us is still an amazing success, coming out of left field and becoming a hit years after release. And while it's easy to complain about the servers not supporting millions of players or cheaters infiltrating Among Us games, it's impossible to deny the game's appeal even with the strange quirks and issues.
Among Us is available for mobile and PC.
