Valorant Rolling Back 'Nightmare' 1.11 Update | Game Rant
Perhaps the initial hype for Valorant has died down from earlier this year, but Riot Games' team-oriented shooter is still a big success in 2020. However, not everything has gone smoothly for the first-person shooter, as the most recent update has been a "technical nightmare" for the developer. And now, Riot Games has revealed that it will be rolling back the 1.11 update for Valorant for now.
A few hours ago it was announced from the official Valorant Twitter that the newest update is being rolled back in North America, Brazil, and LATAM. Ugly Valorant glitches (like a recent Sova drone issue) can sometimes put a damper on the experience, but the 1.11 update is something that Riot Games can not control at the moment, so it is choosing to rewind.
Riot Games let fans know that they will redeploy the 1.11 update for Valorant within a week. The update saw the addition of a new Agent; Skye. The patch also made adjustments to Breach, Cypher, and Killjoy. In rolling back the patch, those who started a Skye contract will have to put any progress on hold. Once the patch is back online, players will be able to pick up where they left off.
Some of these issues are why fans wanted a test server, just like Riot Games has in place for League of Legends. Thankfully, test servers are coming to Valorant, just not quite quick enough for update 1.11. Test servers will allow players to get a feel for balance changes, new characters, and more, all while providing feedback to the developer. From Riot Games side, test servers will help with nightmare updates, nipping them in the bud before the issues are widespread across the entire community.
Riot Games is right in the middle of Act 3 for Valorant, a phase of the game that sees a fresh map, a battle pass, a new Agent, and more. Update 1.10 went a bit smoother than 1.11, but hopefully, the issues will be behind the developer once the patch is redeployed in the coming days.
Fans are looking forward to what Riot Games has in store for Valorant, including a snowball fight that dataminers have found. The hope, of course, is that future updates will be released in a much more polished fashion than 1.11. The public test servers will be a huge help for that, and then Valorant will be able to grow with slightly fewer hiccups moving forward.
Valorant is available now for PC.
