Apex Legends Bug Makes It Possible to Hear Sounds From Across the Map

Apex Legends has been a big multiplayer hit ever since it launched in early 2019. The game continues to grow and expand, with updates, new seasons, and more. However, as fun as it can be, Apex Legends is also a glitchy experience at times, and this newest season is no different, as one player may have found a groundbreaking glitch.

Players of Apex Legends have often complained about sound issues in the game. Whether it's guns that don't make noise in Apex Legends, completely silent footprints, or inconsistent audio, it has often been a problem for many fans. It's been a constant frustration, one seemingly without an answer.

A post on the r/ApexLegends subreddit by Reddit user mnkymnk points out an issue that may be new to Season 7, or may answer the sound problems noticed prior. According to his test, he found that small sound effects from all over the entire map can be heard when attempting to sit in silence. The sound effects for health and shields can be heard, even when there was no one around. The player's theory is that the sound has always been present, just extremely quietly, and this is overloading the audio pipeline for Apex Legends

Respawn Entertainment recently updated fans on some of the sound issues, claiming that dynamic mixing, sound event triggering logic, and sound priority was being worked on. Season 7 of Apex Legends has seen new bugs, but it's possible that the sound issue has always been prevalent. The hope is that Respawn can work on mixing the audio correctly, as footsteps from someone who is two feet away should not be drowned out by a shield sound effect across the map.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version coming this fall.
