Assassin's Creed Valhalla Mod Expands Eivor's Haircut Options

Assassin's Creed Valhalla offers players the chance to customize the protagonist, Eivor, in multiple ways. With a broad lineup of armor, tattoos, and ship options, players can put a personal touch on just about everything. And while Eivor's hair is also customizable, a new mod greatly expands the number of options that Eivor has while donning a new hairdo.

The mod, called Eivor Customizer and first noticed by Eurogamer, allows players to equip haircuts found on NPCs throughout Assassin Creed Valhalla's world. Additionally, a few styles from Assassin's Creed Odyssey are available, expanding the options even further. However, it doesn't stop there, the mod also allows players to adjust Eivor's body proportions, giving the player freedom to scale up or down parts of Eivor, like his arms or neck.

These new options will have some problems, though. They weren't intended to be available, and therefore, aren't something that Ubisoft accounted for while developing the game. That means that, while they might look good on Eivor, players may notice issues with things like clipping. Luckily, Valhalla allows players to hide any piece of equipment they're currently wearing, which may mitigate the issue, but likely won't solve it entirely.

To download the mod, players will need to use the Forger Patch Menu, then follow the steps on the mod's Nexus Mod Page. The process itself seems pretty straightforward for those that have downloaded mods before, though as usual, it's a good idea to back up sizes before messing around with a game, as the potential to corrupt a save is always there. Losing dozens of hours of progress over new haircuts would undoubtedly be frustrating, so it's a good idea to check all the boxes before fiddling around with things.

Mod creator hypermorphic says that their next project will "whatever [they] can get to work," though they do plan at looking at beards in the future. Hypermorphic also says that players should check back for updates in the future, so things will likely continue to be tweaked as time goes on.

Mods like this can go a long way to enhancing a game's overall experience, and it's difficult to have too many customization options in a game. Considering the open-ended nature of Assassin's Creed Valhallamore mods like this – or ones that odd additional armor and weapon sets – seem pretty likely, though it may not reach quite the same level that Skyrim mods have, even nearly a decade after release.
