Clash of Clans Developer Supercell Shutting Down Hay Day Pop
The sun is setting on Hay Day Pop, the farm-themed puzzle game developed by Supercell, creator of some of the best mobile games. According to an update from the developer, in what will be the final update for the game, Hay Day Pop will be shut down on February 1, 2021.
The update that was released today explained that Hay Day Pop simply wasn't living up to the expectations, perhaps especially when compared to other Supercell hits. Therefore, it made the difficult decision to end the development of Hay Day Pop.
It is certainly fair to claim that Hay Day Pop never found the popularity of other Supercell games like Clash of Clans. There is a reason that Supercell was acquired for $8 billion just a few years ago. While games like Clash Royale and Brawl Stars jump to the top of their genre as soon as they are released, Hay Day Pop never seemed to reach those heights.
We believe our players deserve to play the very best games. Sadly, despite all of our efforts, we feel that Hay Day Pop does not meet the standards we have set for ourselves and our players.
Supercell thanked the community for sticking with the game and helping it develop the puzzle title since it was released. But although the game is apparently more fun now than it was on launch day, it never met the standards of Supercell, and never raked in millions daily like Clash of Clans.
It is always a bummer to see a game be shut down. While the game hasn't performed how Supercell would have liked, there are likely those out there that truly enjoy the game and will be sad to learn that it is ending. Players have a few more months to enjoy Hay Day Pop before the last rooster crows in February 2021.
Hay Day Pop is available now on iOS and Android, but will be shut down on February 1, 2021.
