Dark Souls: Remastered: 10 Rarest Rings (& Where To Find Them)
Rings have been part of an adventurer's gear in RPGs for a long time. They are a way to add beneficial effects or stats to a character's build without having to worry about encumbrance. In Dark Souls: Remastered, rings are very much used in this capacity, though some are not easy to acquire.
This is so that those who explore the world will be the ones that benefit the most, a core theme in the Dark Souls games. This is especially apparent for rings in Dark Souls: Remastered, as unlike in Dark Souls 2 or Dark Souls 3, one can only equip two rings instead of four. With such limited space, getting the right ring for a build is even more imperative.
10 Cloranthy Ring
With numerous places where a misstep can lead to death, one might be tempted to rush through this secret area in order to get to Ash Lake, but doing so will cause the player to miss one of the best rings in the game. The Cloranthy Ring, which increases stamina regeneration, can be found by proceeding about halfway down the main branch from the first bonfire of the area. To the right, one should see a corpse in a cylindrical hollow with an item upon it. Get above this hollow and then roll off of the branch into it. Be careful though, as there is a hole in the center that will make you drop past the precious loot.
9 Covetous Silver Serpent Ring
A dark pit full of deadly skeletal enemies, the Tomb of Giants is where a lot can be missed due to the lack of visibility. If one seeks to farm souls, however, there is a ring in this location that will make things more efficient. To find it, head out from the second bonfire in the area and hug the right wall until one reaches an upward ramp. Make a left at the top of this curving ramp and continue up as much as one can. Make a right, run past the giant skeleton archer, and roll off the ledge onto a platform with non-animated skeletal remains. Proceed across the narrow bridge to another platform, this one will have an item: the sought after silver ring.
8 Speckled Stoneplate Ring
The Chosen Undead must complete almost all of Siegmeyer of Catarina's questline until they reach the second to last phase. When the player meets their onion-helmed pal in Lost Izalith, they will need to either defeat the Chaos Eaters in Siegmeyer's way by themselves or fight them alongside the knight of Catarina and allow him to get below 50% health. Winning the battle alongside him while he retains more than 50% health will gain access to the final phase of the questline, but will not grant the player the Speckled Stoneplate Ring, which grants the wearer 25 points of defense against elemental damage.
7 Havel's Ring
This brutal bishop is the bane of many players. Even with the best possible build, one will be unlikely to deal with his monstrous offense and defense if he is encountered early on. When he is defeated, he doesn't even drop his armor or weapon. Only his ring.
But with this mighty band, one can more easily equip and use the heaviest of gear, especially Havel's own set.
6 Dusk Crown Ring
With relentless Crystal Golems hounding the player and a Hydra that snipes with blasts of water, Darkroot Basin can be a taxing place to traverse. Though, getting up close and personal with the living artillery can be an even more daunting prospect. Thankfully, slaying this many-headed foe will not only permanently remove them from the area but will cause them to drop the Dusk Crown Ring; a piece of jewelry for those attempting a glass cannon build. This gold and green band cuts the player's health in half but allows for almost double the number of spells to be cast.
5 Darkmoon Blade Covenant Ring
Not to be confused with the Darkmoon Seance Ring, this is the item given when one enters the Darkmoon Blade Covenant in order to serve Gwyndolin. To join this covenant, one needs to acquire the Darkmoon Seance Ring from The Catacombs before heading to the area just before Gwyndolin's boss room and speaking with them. This ring's effect is purely for covenant-related tasks, but the description reveals some shocking divine lore about the real nature of Gwynevere and Anor Londo.
4 Dark Wood Grain Ring
This is one of the rings that can only be acquired by killing an NPC, though thankfully said NPC is not a crucial one. One must first join the Forest Hunter Covenant by speaking with Alvina in Darkroot Garden and afterward Shiva of the East will appear nearby Alvina's wooded respite. Behind Shiva is his stealthy ninja bodyguard who carries the desired ring.
Kill the ninja to acquire the Dark Wood Grain Ring, which when equipped will change the player's default roll to a superior one with more invulnerability frames and fewer recovery ones.
3 Rusted Iron Ring
After finding the Undead Asylum F2 West Key on a roof in Firelink Shrine, fly back to the starting area with the aid of the giant crow. One then needs to proceed through the Asylum Demon's boss room, though be sure to skirt along the sides to avoid falling through the decrepit floor into the boss fight with the Stray Demon. When past this room, hang a left and follow the stairs up and proceed to the area with a door of metal bars guarded by some hollow soldiers. Unlock this door with the F2 West Key and beyond will be a broken staircase with a corpse bearing the Rusted Iron Ring. A tool indispensable for traveling certain areas, as it decreases the movement penalty of deep water and swamp terrain.
2 Covetous Gold Serpent Ring
With the abundant traps, snake-people, and the ever-deadly gravity, Sen's Fortress is a place most don't wish to linger. Though, there is plenty of prime loot to be found in this hellscape of stone and iron. When approaching the area where the falling boulders' direction can be changed, instead head down the stairs until one reaches the hole where the boulders end their journey. Take shelter in the narrow corridor at the bottom and wait until boulders fill the hole. Afterward, the next boulder will crash through the wall, opening a path to a corpse holding the golden trinket, which hugely increases item discovery.
1 Calamity Ring
A ring that is only useful for those seeking to complete their collection or those in pursuit of masochistic-level difficulty, it can be obtained from slaying the Black Dragon Kalameet. As one of the hardest bosses in the game, taking down this mighty beast will require a fair bit of effort and likely a lot of patience. This alone makes the Calamity Ring not only one of the toughest to acquire but also justifies its name.
