Dead Cells Announces 'Christmas' 2020 Update | Game Rant
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has had a major effect on many, with game development hit hard alongside other facets of the entertainment industry. Major games like Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise were impacted by COVID-19, as were titles like Motion Twin's roguelike Dead Cells. However, yesterday the indie developer announced another update will be coming in mid-December, with news about something "bigger" dropping within the next few months to follow.
In a community update posted to Steam, Dead Cells confirmed that the mid-December "Christmas" update will be "full of little stocking stuffers," including a new weapon, mob, and lore room, as well as skins, a diet option, and more that is still being tested. This is the developer's first community post on Steam since a Hotfix released in August following Dead Cells' Barrels O' Fun update, with the bout of silence purportedly due to a second lockdown and time spent training new team members.
That being said, not all has been quiet for fans of Dead Cells. The game followed up its iOS release by coming out on Android devices this April, and Dead Cells' Legacy Update released on mobile in October. Further updates are planned on this version into 2021 as well, including the release of the "Bad Seed" DLC expansion.
Though the full details regarding Dead Cells' next PC update are not entirely on the table, fans will likely be happy to know that more content is on its way after months of silence. The prospect of something even bigger down the line should also keep fans of the roguelike platformer grinding out runs into the new year.
Dead Cells is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
