Genshin Impact Trailer Teases Arrival of Xinyan | Game Rant
It's only been two months since Genshin Impact first released, and the free-to-play mobile game has already received its first major update to bring in four new characters and a number of new features. To help celebrate the recent launch of Genshin Impact version 1.1, miHoYo has released a demo reel of one of these new characters, showcasing their voice actor, themes, and most importantly, their abilities.
The demo has been released on YouTube, premiering for multiple of the languages available for the new character, giving players a look at the different options available while playing. Following the video have also been multiple posts to the Genshin Impact Twitter account, showing off this new character and giving players a better idea of what they'll be getting when making a Wish.
In the video and accompanying posts, miHoYo has been promoting the new character Xinyan who arrived to the game within the 1.1 update, alongside three others. This new character is a heavy-sword user with a fire element, potentially taking a similar role in Genshin Impact as Diluc, likely dealing out high damage at a relatively slower speed. Of course, as with any character in the game, the combat is only half of the draw, as it's often both the visual design and personality that makes players search for and want to collect many of these characters.
Xinyan's character is likely one geared more towards western fans, as both her accent and attitude make her out to be a starry-eyed musician from the heartland, in her case travelling with nothing but a guitar and giant sword. That's not to say that the traveling musician trope doesn't translate across other regions, but the decisively southern accent, at least in English, does imply that there is a demographic intended for the character. Given that the short video is only a short demo, players may still get a Character Tales in the future, but Xinyan is the final character to be showcased from the new update, so fans might be waiting until reveals for Genshin Impact version 1.2 for new spotlights.
The character herself looks looks like she'll fit in nicely with the rest of the Genshin Impact roster. Her bubbly attitude might stand out among some of the other characters that players have seen so far, although someone so light and cheery might be a welcome addition to most parties. Of course, this just means that players now have even more options to pick through when making the perfect party for approaching any specific situation the game presents to them.
Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and Switch.
