Demon's Souls Player Creates Kanye West Character | Game Rant
One of the biggest improvements in the Demon's Souls remake is the new character creation system that has allowed players to create avatars that look like actual human beings. The results from the original game's system were often so far off the mark that they didn't even fall into the uncanny valley. With the new system, players have taken to accurately depicting celebrities, with one player managing to create a facsimile of rapper Kanye West.
Reddit user IHateMyselfButNotYou posted their version of West on the r/gaming subreddit, demonstrating the immense power of the Demon's Souls character creator. Comments made on the post referenced his South Park parody, various songs including "Lift Yourself" and "Runaway," and his failed 2020 presidential campaign. However, some comments also note that the character has a bit of extra weight compared to his real-life counterpart.
IHateMyselfButNotYou did not confirm how his creation resembling the Chicago rapper operated in-game, whether he would use his supposed genius-level intellect to navigate the world of Boletaria and its many dangers, or if "Good Morning" would play every time he respawned. Perhaps West could take inspiration from the armor of Demon's Souls as part of his Yeezy fashion brand, though his latest footwear offering have been roasted by Twitter for resembling a Mexican snack food.
Besides Demon's Souls, other games have seen their character creation systems used to make avatars resembling real-life people, or those from other pieces of media. For example, one Red Dead Online player created an Abraham Lincoln character, while a Red Dead Redemption 2 player used its robust character customization system to turn Arthur Morgan into a Walter White lookalike.
West has a considerable connection with gaming, from sampling Street Fighter II on his 2016 album The Life of Pablo to nearly naming an album after the TurboGrafx-16 console. He even attempted to make a mobile game called Only One based on his late mother Donda West's ascent into heaven. Earlier this year, the multi-hyphenate appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, where he invoked Grand Theft Auto and Super Mario Bros. to describe his thought process and inspirations.
For now, Kanye West fans can keep themselves amused with this Demon's Souls doppelganger created in its versatile character creator, and have the rapper run through the dangerous world of Boletaria - perhaps set to Watch the Throne. However, someone may now have to create a Jay-Z duplicate to match.
Demon's Souls is available on the PS5.
