Monument Valley Dev's Alba: A Wildlife Adventure Hits Switch Next Year
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure released on December 11 on Steam and Apple Arcade, receiving very positive reviews. Now, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure has made a surprise appearance during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase event earlier today.
The Indie World Showcase gave fans a look at Alba: A Wildlife Adventure’s setting and gameplay, introducing players to the game's quaint art style and feel. The end of the trailer capped off with a release window for Alba: A Wildlife Adventure on Switch, coming to the console during Spring 2021.
For those who haven’t heard of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure before, it was developed by the London-based development studio Ustwo Fampany Limited. Players might recognize Ustwo from their popular mobile game Monument Valley, which was nominated for numerous awards during the year of its release. However, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is a slight departure for the studio, focusing less on puzzle-oriented gameplay in favor of a chill, stylistic collectathon with puzzle elements. The game centers around a young girl named Alba who, while visiting her grandparents on a Mediterranean island, explores the island while performing good deeds for the community.
Much of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure centers around exploration and completing activities to clean up pollution around the island, all while assisting and documenting the local wildlife. In keeping in line with the game’s theme, the team is planting a tree for every copy of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure sold across all platforms. As the tumultuous year of 2020 comes to a close, it’s nice to see games like Alba: A Wildlife Adventure take things slow and showcase good causes. Those players interested in a relaxing game about environmental activism can look forward to Alba: A Wildlife Adventure coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in Spring 2021.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is available now on iOS, macOS, PC, and tvOS, with a Nintendo Switch version coming in Spring 2021.
