How to Use Thor's Hammer Mjolnir in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is putting a weapon of the gods in the hands of the players. Fans can now wield Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, against an army of the undead in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies game mode.
To prove themselves worthy, players will first need to unlock the Sledgehammer in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Unlocking the melee weapon option requires a difficult challenge, but is necessary if players want to harness the power of the gods.
Unfortunately, it may be difficult for some players to unlock the Sledgehammer due to a glitch in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Players who are capable of unlocking the weapon will need to bring it into a Zombies match. Within the match, players must take the Sledgehammer to a Pack-a-Punch machine three separate times, which will result in the Sledgehammer being named “Zjolnir,” a clear reference to Thor’s hammer. At this point, the hammer is only named to match Mjolnir, but it won’t yet behave like the legendary weapon.
Once players have Zjolnir in hand, they will need to take the weapon to an Arsenal in order to upgrade the hammer to Tier 5, making it “Legendary.” Players must now return to the Pack-a-Punch machine so that they can attach the Dead Wire ammunition mod to the weapon.
With the Dead Wire mod attached, players will notice that the hammer now crackles with the telltale electricity of the thunder god, though it scarcely resembles Thor’s hammer in any other way. Players can use the hammer against the undead hordes they will face in the game, and will see their foes electrified when struck. Now that players wield the hammer of a god, they can feel safer when searching for other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Easter eggs, like the Giant Hand.
It should be noted that Zjolnir has a maximum damage output equivalent to a fully upgraded combat knife. TheGamingRevolution notes that, even on round 30+, it only took three hits to take down the Megaton, a boss who has the distinction of being one of the worst in the Zombies franchise in spite of being introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
The hammer may have greater reach than its smaller counterpart, but at the cost of slowing the player down a bit. Additionally, using the hammer causes the character to lunge further, and more often, than the knife does, but while still being slower. This puts the character in range of being hit more often, and without the benefit of the lunge being “spammed” - used repeatedly in short succession - to gain a boost to movement speed. Now, fans will have to hope for Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Tombstone Soda to return.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
